Bullying Prevention Week

Good afternoon to our QEB families,

Progress Reports will be sent home on Monday, November 20, 2023. Our teachers are looking forward to our Family-Teacher Conferences next week. Below you will find a link to sign-up for a conference time with your child(ren)’s teacher(s). Conferences will be offered through a phone call, in person meeting, or a Google Meet throughout next week. The booking link will close on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 11:00PM. Next week is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week in Ontario. Did you know:

  • Over 1,100,000 Canadian school-aged students are bullied at least once, each and every week.

  • Thirty-one per cent of Canadian youth say they've been cyberbullied before.

  • About 50 per cent of youth and 30 percent of parents say they have witnessed cyberbullying directed at someone else.

  • Sixty-five per cent of youth say that they would tell a friend over a parent if they were being cyberbullied. They often fear their devices will be taken away if they tell their parents, and many don't feel that reporting cyberbullying is effective.

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week enables schools to promote positive change in student learning, achievement, and well-being for a safer learning environment, which is essential to student success.

  17. Pizza days are running with cheese pizza from Bourbon Street Pizza. Orders for Wednesday, November 29 and December 6, 2023 can be placed through School Cash Online or paid by cash with an order form from the office.  Pizza is $2.50 per slice per week.  Orders are due by Monday, November 27, 2023 at the end of the school day. 

  18. Through our Food For Learning (FFL) program, we will be offering a hot lunch every Thursday and Toast or Cereal & Fruit every Friday for all students that would like to participate.   19. Kernels Popcorn is once again available for purchase Tuesdays & Thursdays at second break for $2.25.

QEB Student Teams & Clubs (currently running with staff involvement):

  1. QEB Student Council - Leadership team for intermediate students to further develop the QEB Purple School Community through student voice and involvement in fundraising and event planning for whole school participation.

  2. Rainbow Club - A club for junior/intermediate students with a focus on creating a safe space for student voice while students enjoy a variety of activities and cooperative games in the gymnasium.

  3. JEDI (Justice/Equity/Diversity/Inclusion) Club - A school-based equity club of intermediate students and staff working together to assist and inform our equity plan, considering different perspectives and setting priorities for our school and community.

  4. Volleyball - Junior / Intermediate Students - Opportunity for students to try out for a team (will represent QEB at a tournament) and to develop their skills in volleyball and sportsmanship.
